Deltamethrin is a broad spectrum synthetic insecticide and pesticide,It is from the pyrethroid family of chemicals and acts on target organisms through ingestion and contact. The mode of action of deltamethrin is the disruption in the production and conduction of nervous signals in the target organisms by delaying the closing of the sodium ion channels in the nerve membranes. This results in a prolonged delay in the closing of these sodium channel activation gates, meaning that a series of repetitive signals are produced in sensory organs and muscles, ultimately resulting in irreversible and fatal damage to the nervous system. Deltamethrin is registered for use in a wide variety of crops, amenity grasslands such as golf courses and bowling greens, lawns, perimeter treatments, ornamental gardens, indoor plants and pet collars.  Deltamethrin is approved for use on over 150 types of crops, including cotton, corn/maize, soybeans, cereals, oil seed rape, rice, vegetables and fruit. A large range of organisms are effected by  deltamethrin including flies, locusts, grass hoppers, thrips, mites, ants, weevils, beetles, moths, aphids, mealy bugs, white fly and mosquitoes.
