Herbicide: 2, 4-D Acid
2, 4-D amine salt 720g/L
2, 4-D Acid
CAS No.: 94-75-7
Use Profile
2, 4-D comes in multiple chemical forms and is found in numerous end-use products intended for use in a wide range of use patterns. 2, 4-D is an ingredient in approximately 660 agricultural and home use products, as a sole active ingredient and in conjunction with other active ingredients. 2, 4-D is formulated primarily as an amine salt in an aqueous solution or as an ester in an emulsifiable concentrate.
Type of Pesticide: Herbicide
Target organism(s): A wide variety of broadleaf weeds and aquatic weeds
Mode of action:
2, 4-D is thought to increase cell-wall plasticity, biosynthesis of proteins and the production of ethylene. The abnormal increase in these processes is thought to result in uncontrolled
Cell division and growth which damages vascular tissue.
Characteristic and Usage:
2, 4-D, its amine salts and butyl ester are systemic herbicides, widely used for the control of broad-leaved weeds such as Plantago, Ranunculus and Veronic in cereals crops-including wheat, maize, rice and sorghum-and grassland and turf areas. It is also widely used in mixtures with other herbicides to provide weed control in forestry, orchards and non-crop areas, and for the control of aquatic weeds
